Paws for a Cause: Kanga and Dozer's Journey to Mobility

It's time for another update from about Kanga/Thumper and Dozer/Bambi, who continue to capture our hearts and inspire us all. With their front leg deformities, these two resilient souls have shown incredible strength and spirit, and today, I'm thrilled to share the latest milestones in their journey towards mobility and happiness. The transformation in Kanga and Dozer since they've become more comfortable in their foster home is nothing short of remarkable. With names inspired by their unique personalities and modes of moving around, they've shown us the resilience and joy that lies within. Dozer, previously known as Bambi, bulldozes his way through with determination, while Kanga, formerly Thumper, bounds with a spirit that's infectious.

First off, a big step is coming up for our furry friends: Kanga and Dozer have their spay and neuter appointment scheduled for this Friday, March 15, 2024. It's a crucial step in ensuring their overall health and wellbeing, and we're sending them all our positive vibes for a smooth procedure and speedy recovery. But that's not all! Our courageous canines have begun an exciting new chapter in their rehabilitation journey. They've started physical therapy at Canine Physical Rehabilitation of New Mexico under the expert care of Dr. Hady. This specialized therapy is designed to improve their mobility, strengthen their muscles, and ultimately, enhance their quality of life. The road to recovery includes the use of Carpal Wraps to support their contracted shoulders and wrists, Peanut balls, and Elbow Braces for added stability, along with roll pillows or body harnesses to ensure their utmost comfort during the sessions.

However, Kanga and Dozer's journey is far from over, and they still need our support. Their physical therapy is an essential part of their rehabilitation, but they also require front end wheelchairs to gain the independence and freedom they deserve. These specialized wheelchairs are crucial for dogs with front leg deformities, offering support and allowing them to move around more freely and comfortably. Companies like Ruff Rollin' specialize in creating custom wheelchairs tailored to each dog's specific needs, ensuring a perfect fit and maximum mobility. These wheelchairs are not just mobility aids; they're tickets to a happier, more fulfilling life for dogs like Kanga and Dozer.

As Kanga and Dozer continue to make strides in their recovery, their need for ongoing medical care, including potential surgery, remains a critical part of their journey. That's why we're reaching out to our compassionate community for support. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of these special dogs. If you're moved by their story and want to contribute to their care, please consider making a donation at www.CrossMyPaws.org/donate. Your generosity can help provide the medical treatments, therapies, and equipment they need to live their best lives.

Kanga and Dozer's story is a testament to the resilience of the spirit and the power of compassionate care. Let's continue to rally around them, offering our support and love as they brave the path to recovery. Together, we can make a world of difference for these beautiful souls. Thank you for being part of their journey.
